TennisTV Apps: A whole new way to keep your favourite sport at your fingertips

As content and audience interaction has become increasingly web and device based, ATP Media – the commercial arm of the ATP World Tour - and PERFORM explored how to update and revitalise the TennisTV experience on mobile; to better engage their audience and tap into the enthusiasm of a younger generation of fans. ATP Media and PERFORM own and distribute the rights for both the men’s and women’s professional tennis tours respectively.

Ness used its successful relationship with PERFORM - a leading sports digital media company and long-term partner of ATP Media - to help inject a modern user experience into the TennisTV applications. The goal was to modernise the mobile experience, introduce more native functionality and increase consumption of live and video on demand (VOD) highlights content across mobile platforms, specifically iOS and Android. Innovative multi-screen streaming on tablets and favourite player or match alerts on all apps have enhanced the live experience for the customer while increasing engagement. The TennisTV apps provide a wealth of relevant data, live match streaming and video on demand (VOD) - both in in HD - and tiered payment functionality powered by feeds from the PERFORM platform.

Working with a distributed team of designers and product engineers, Ness, alongside ATP Media and PERFORM, created a long-term product roadmap to set out a vision for how the mobile experience should launch and evolve.

Ness’s expertise helped the team design, develop and test a revamped minimal viable product to re-set expectations with fans. Future release functionality will bring truly personalized viewing experiences and allow ATP Media and PERFORM to deliver richer, context-aware content based on user behaviour and preferences.
